About Trichology (The British Science)

Trichology is the British para-medical science of the hair and scalp, cosmetic chemistry, and life sciences. It encompasses the science of the structure, function and diseases of the human hair and scalp as well as the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases and disorders. Dr. Kingsley is the ONLY trichologist in the WORLD who is a member of all three world renowned trichological organizations which oversee the vigorous training and ethical standards of their members.

The Institute of Trichologists, founded in Britain in 1902, is the oldest of these organizations. Full membership is only granted after 6 years of academic and practical study. Fully qualified members of the Institute are designated by the letters M.I.T. (Member of the Institute of Trichologists) or F.I.T. (Fellow of the Institute of Trichologists).

A Fellowship to the Institute of Trichologists is only granted to a trichologist who has added, by way of academic research or the publication of an original thesis, to the general knowledge of the subject of trichology, and whom the Board of Governors of the Institute have deemed to be a fit and proper person to be admitted as a Fellow.

Dr. David H. Kingsley is one of the select few trichologists to have achieved this acclaim and is the only member of this Institute practicing in North America with both a Fellowship and a doctorate. In addition, Dr. Kingsley is a clinical trainer for this Institute's American based trichology students.

The International Association of Trichologists, situated in Australia, is another organization which trains trichologists worldwide. Fully qualified members of this Institute are designated by the letters IAT. Dr. Kingsley works closely with the president of this organization, Mr. David Salinger, and helps oversee the clinical training of its American based trichology students.

The Trichological Society, situated in England, is an organization which includes members from all hair loss professions and only accepts members with advanced academic credentials. Fully qualified members of this society are designated by the letters LTTS. Dr. Kingsley is an authorized clinical trainer for this societyıs North American based students.
